July's Special Appeal....
Shawnee Area camping Ministry
Shawnee Area Camping Ministry has Sunday worship services and Chaplain support at the Shawnee Campground, the Choice Camping Courts, and the Hillegass Campground from Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day Weekend. The Pennsylvania Council of Churches’ Leisure Ministry provides the “Chaplain in the Park” ministry at 42 state parks that includes some private campgrounds. The Allegheny Synod of the ELCA sponsors the Shawnee Area Camping Ministry with the “partner share” and provides a camping trailer at the Hillegass Campground as living quarters for the chaplain. The ministry receives support from some Bedford County Churches, local businesses, offerings received at the weekly worship services, and some friends of the park. The committee also plans some fundraisers and receives supplemental funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. The total attendance for the summer worship services of 2008 was 1008 persons. .Please share special offerings during the month of July to support this ministry.
